Cleaned User-Generated POI Data for Mumbai city

Point of Interest (POI) data refers to information about specific locations that are of interest to individuals or groups, such as restaurants, schools, hospitals, shops, or parks. This type of data is essential for analyzing urban land use patterns and understanding how different spaces are utilized across a city. In this study, POI data were collected from three major open-source platforms. From OpenStreetMap (OSM), 48,641 data points were extracted (accessed on December 18, 2023). Foursquare, known for its rich user-generated content, contributed 38,239 POIs (accessed on December 1, 2023). ArcGIS Developer, using its advanced mapping and nearby search API, added another 10,642 POIs (accessed on December 13, 2023). The initial combined dataset comprised 97,522 POIs. After applying several cleaning and filtering processes to remove duplicates, correct inconsistencies, and ensure relevance, a final set of 25,477 POIs was prepared for analysis. This cleaned dataset focuses on the city of Mumbai and is ready for use in detailed land use studies.
