This work explores a novel deployable shroud concept based on multilayered origami tubes. The multilayered structures are designed to shield against micrometeoroids, provide thermal stability, and minimize stray light interference. We present a method for the initial design and analysis of these structures using an optimization-based approach to minimize during the folding process. We identify several parameters we can track for minimizing shearing motion between inner and outer layers and explore how the objective function affects the final optimized design.
