This dataset is from a survey of 708 visitors to the Great Barrier Reef on five tourism vessels in the Cairns-Port Douglas region, in September and October 2024. It represents a baseline study of public perceptions of assisted coral recovery devices, observed by the Reef visitors in situ. The data were collected as part of a study within the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program (RRAP), under the Subprogram ‘Best Practice Stakeholder and Traditional Owner Engagement’. The study was reviewed and approved by the CSIRO Social Science Human Research Ethics Committee (Approval #131/21) in accordance with Australia’s National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007). Details about the purpose of the study, the handling and uses of the data, respondents’ anonymity and other ethical considerations were provided on the survey cover sheet, and all respondents’ participation was entirely voluntary.\nLineage: Survey respondents were English speaking GBR visitors over 18 years of age, who took part in a GBR day trip on one of five selected vessels, visiting site(s) in the Cairns-Port Douglas region at which ACR devices were deployed, during September and October 2023. Questionnaires were distributed in paper form by a member of the research team and/or a member of the vessel crew on the return journey from the reef to Cairns or Port Douglas. Data from the paper questionnaires was subsequently inputted to the database in MS Excel. A PDF copy of the questionnaire is provided as accompanying information. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land and sea country on which this study took place, including the Gunggandji, Yirrganydji, and Eastern Kuku Yalanji peoples.
后续研究人员将纸质问卷数据录入微软Excel(MS Excel)数据库。
