Beach litter - Number of surveys & temporal coverage per beach - Other sources 2001/2021 v2023

This visualization product displays the number of non-MSFD monitoring surveys, research & cleaning operations and the associated temporal coverage per beach. EMODnet Chemistry included the collection of marine litter in its 3rd phase. Since the beginning of 2018, data of beach litter have been gathered and processed in the EMODnet Chemistry Marine Litter Database (MLDB). The harmonization of all the data has been the most challenging task considering the heterogeneity of the data sources, sampling protocols and reference lists used on a European scale. Preliminary processing were necessary to harmonize all the data: - Exclusion of OSPAR 1000 protocol: in order to follow the approach of OSPAR that it is not including these data anymore in the monitoring; - Selection of surveys from non-MSFD monitoring, cleaning and research operations; - Exclusion of beaches without coordinates. Warning: the absence of data on the map doesn't necessarily mean that they don't exist, but that no information has been entered in the Marine Litter Database for this area.

本可视化产品展示了各海滩的非海洋战略框架指令（Marine Strategy Framework Directive, MSFD）监测调查、研究与清理作业的数量，以及对应的时间覆盖范围。欧洲海洋观测与数据网络化学分部（EMODnet Chemistry）将海洋垃圾收集工作纳入其第三阶段任务。自2018年初起，研究团队已在欧洲海洋观测与数据网络化学分部海洋垃圾数据库（EMODnet Chemistry Marine Litter Database, MLDB）中完成海滩垃圾数据的采集与处理工作。考虑到欧洲范围内各数据源、采样规程及参考名录存在异质性，对所有数据进行统一标准化协调是本次工作中最具挑战性的环节。为完成全量数据的标准化协调，需开展以下预处理步骤：
- 剔除OSPAR 1000采样规程：为遵循OSPAR不再将此类数据纳入监测体系的工作准则；
- 筛选非海洋战略框架指令监测、清理及研究作业对应的调查数据；
- 剔除未提供坐标信息的海滩相关数据。
