Peptidoglycan recognition protein 4-deficiency enhances bacterial clearance of Streptococcus pneumoniae. Mouse metagenome

Here we examined peptidoglycan recognition protein 4 and its activity against the pathoge Streptococcus pneumoniae. Our results show that knock- out mice had lower amounts of bacteria in lung and blood, particularly by enhanced inflammatory response. Parts of this response seem to be connected to the altered complexity and composition of gut and lung microbiota.
