ASSESSMENT OF THE DEGREE OF DEHYDRATION IN ROTAVIRAL GASTROENTERITIS IN CHILDREN

Rotavirus remains one of the most important causes of severe diarrheal disease in infants and young children worldwide. In countries without widespread rotavirus vaccination, it accounts for a substantial proportion of acute severe diarrhea in children under 5 years of age. The disease is especially dangerous because repeated vomiting and profuse watery diarrhea can rapidly lead to fluid and electrolyte loss, resulting in dehydration, hospitalization, and, in severe cases, death.
