Four men stand by one of two doorways in the house, an extinguished fire place visible to their left. The man directly in the doorway is the shortest, wears a darkly-colored shirt and is identified as Thomas Workman Temple II, the San Gabriel Mission Custodian. The other men from left to right are identified as: "Chuck" Fulkerson, Title Insurance and Trust; Norm Woest, Title Insurance and Trust; and Charles Elgert, President of the San Gabriel Historical Society and Postmaster.; The adobe was built in 1850 by John R. Evertsen, who was charged with taking the first U.S. Census of the City and County of Los Angeles.
