Collection of visual core description (VCD) sheets (hand drawn originals and digital representations) and lithologic composite plots from the above given hole of International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Expedition 386 (Japan Trench Paleoseismology). VCD was performed on unsampled archive halves of split cores, directly after linescan imaging, during the onshore phase of expedition 386, which took place between 2022-02-14 – 2022-03-15 onboard D/V Chikyu. The lithology of each core section is represented on the hand drawn VCDs by graphic patterns next to the X-ray CT image of the archive-half core section. Further, a wide variety of features that characterize the sediment are indicated in additional columns. The information from the hand-drawn VCD sheets was then transferred into the Drilling Information System database (s. also datasets "Description of lithologic section units of IODP Hole 386-M0087B"), from where it could be accessed semi-automated to produce digital lithologic columns and composite plots using Strater (Golden Software).For further methodological information see methods chapter in Strasser, M. et al., 2023 https://doi.org/10.14379/iodp.proc.386.102.2023
本数据集包含国际大洋发现计划(International Ocean Discovery Program, IODP)第386次科考航次(日本海沟古地震学研究)指定钻孔的岩心视觉描述(visual core description, VCD)表(含手绘原稿与数字化复制品)及岩性综合柱状图。
岩心视觉描述工作于2022年2月14日至2022年3月15日的航次陆上阶段开展,依托“地球号”(D/V Chikyu)科考船完成,具体操作流程为:在对分取岩心的未采样保存半段完成线扫描成像后,直接对其开展岩心视觉描述工作。
每份岩心切片的岩性,通过对应保存半段岩心切片的X射线计算机断层扫描(X-ray CT)图像旁的图形图案,在手绘VCD表中进行呈现。此外,表征沉积物特征的各类沉积与构造参数,亦通过附加列进行标注说明。
手绘VCD表中的相关信息随后被录入钻井信息系统数据库(亦可参考数据集"IODP 386-M0087B钻孔岩性剖面单元描述");工作人员可通过该数据库实现半自动数据调取,利用Strater软件(Golden Software公司出品)生成数字化岩性柱状图与综合柱状图。
