Finding Aid, Archaeological Field Reconnaissance Mississinewa Reservoir Force Main 1979

This collection is referred to as “Archaeological Field Reconnaissance Mississinewa Reservoir Force Main 1979.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is one (1.0) linear inch. The investigation was originally housed within a folder labeled with the Ball State University project number 78FR46.
This project includes no photographic or oversized materials. In terms of conservation treatment of the paper records, a metal contaminant was removed from a three-page correspondence containing a letter, memorandum, and map. Also, tape removal was needed on three records. The taped items included small topographical maps adhered to the back of the site survey records. On all three items, the old tape was removed to eliminate as much of the residue as possible and was replaced with acid free mending tape. Mending tape was used to repair a small tear from the first page of the unedited report. More mending tape was used on the yellow onion skin memoranda to prevent further fringing and tearing. All three pages of the field catalogue record also had small tears taped. Any folds or bends in the paper contents of this project were smoothed out.
Included in the collection are three final reports with one was an unedited version and the other two were edited versions. The content within all three reports is the same. The main difference is the changing of typed site numbers to handwritten site numbers, from 12MI2 to 12MI11, 12MI3 to 12MI12, and 12MI4 to 12MI13, and the added references cites in the edited versions. These edited site numbers, 12MI11, 12MI12, and 12MI13, are also within the field catalog records and site survey forms. Also of note are the inclusive dates of this project, which span from 1978 to 1979. The early date pertains to administrative correspondence while the later relates to field catalog records that post-date the final report.

本数据集包含三份最终报告，其中一份为未编辑版本，另外两份为编辑版本。三份报告的核心内容完全一致，主要差异在于：将打印版遗址编号更改为手写版编号，具体对应关系为12MI2→12MI11、12MI3→12MI12、12MI4→12MI13，且编辑版本中补充了参考文献引用。这些经修改后的遗址编号12MI11、12MI12与12MI13同样出现在野外目录记录与遗址勘查表格中。此外，本项目的时间跨度为1978年至1979年：早期时段对应行政通信文件，晚期时段则对应晚于最终报告的野外目录记录。
