Number of forced mental illness hospitalizations by legal control Japan FY 2013-2022

In the fiscal year 2022, 1,668 people in Japan were forcibly admitted to hospitals for their severe mental illnesses as a legal measure. People in Japan can be legally hospitalized by local authorities after being examined by more than two doctors and diagnosed with severe and aggressive mental illnesses.
