NPS Stratotype Public Dataset

Stratotypes are significant reference sites that are critical to the study of rock formations. The goals of the NPS stratotype inventory are to (1) systematically document published stratotypes that occur within the National Park System, (2) provide reports and maps related to stratotype localities, and (3) help guide resource decision-making. Geologic, bibliographic, and spatial data are provided in the attribute table of this geospatial compilation. The coordinates provided are for the centroids of the parks in which the stratotypes are located.

地层型（stratotype）是岩层形成研究的关键参考点位。美国国家公园管理局（National Park Service，简称NPS）地层型名录的目标在于：（1）系统记录分布于国家公园系统内的已发表地层型；（2）提供与地层型点位相关的报告及地图；（3）为资源管理决策提供指导。本次地理空间汇编的属性表中涵盖地质、文献学及空间三类数据，所提供的坐标为各地层型所在公园的质心坐标。
