The complete chloroplast genome of rhubarb (Rheum tanguticum), an endangered medicinal plant endemic to China

The natural resources of R. tanguticum have been decreased dramatically due to over-exploitation and habit fragmentation.Thus, it is useful to know more genetic information about R. tanguticum to carry out conservation, genetic improvement, and sustainable management for this endangered species.In present study, we determined the complete chloroplast genome sequences for R. tanguticum using IIumina sequencing. The total length of the complete chloroplast genome of S. tetraptera is 161,043bp, of which the GC content is 41.95%. The genome encodes 126 functional genes, including 53 protein-coding genes, 35 tRNA, and 8 rRNA.
