Total carbon dioxide emissions of the largest banks worldwide 2023

According to environmental reports on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the world’s largest banks, four Chinese banks reported the highest emissions in 2023. The Agricultural Bank of China had the largest total, with more than two million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. It was followed by the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. Among non-Chinese banks, JPMorgan Chase reported the highest GHG emissions, at just over one million tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
