We expressed either only the E7 oncoprotein or the complete early genome region (CER) of the human papillomavirus type 8 in primary human adult skin keratinocytes. Cells were retrovirally transduced, selected, and cellular mRNA was extracted after expansion of the transgene positive keratinocytes. Overall design: Changes in gene expression were measured using the Human Genome cDNA U133A Affymetrix Arrays in biological triplicates in cells containing either the empty vector control (pLXSN), pLXSN-HPV8-E7 or pLXSN-HPV8-CER.
