ColaltedDatasets for Figures 2, 3, and 4 of: "Marine carbonate accumulation – A (re-)vision of present estimates and future declines"

This dataset contains collated freely available
datasets used to generate Figures 2, 3, and 4 in the submitted manuscript "Marine
carbonate accumulation – A (re-)vision of present estimates and future declines".
The data is uploaded in this repository to make it easily available for researchers
without the need to "hunt down" individual data sources again. All
datasets are best viewed with Ocean Data View (https://odv.awi.de/).

Figure 2 shows the most recent modern-day
distribution of surface water omega values for calcite and aragonite. Data source

Figure 4: The figure collates four separate
georeferenced shapefiles of biome distribution data of the United Nations
Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP WCMC: https://data.unep-wcmc.org/), as well as
the satellite-derived abundance of particulate organic carbon (PIC = CaCO3) in
the water column, based on the 2021 annual composite of the Aqua/MODIS Level-3
Binned PIC data provided by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Original data
