The Chief of Staff Dataset, 1990–2024 (to Westminster Prime Ministers)

This dataset accompanies the monograph, Chief of Staff: The Rise of Political Craft in Westminster Democracies (Pickering, 2025). The dataset contains biographical, demographic, and contextual political information on 65 chiefs of staff appointed to prime ministers between 1990 and 2024 in four Westminster family democracies: Australia, Britain, Canada, and New Zealand. In addition, the dataset presents annual lists of all “political advisers” in the four countries.

本数据集配套专著《幕僚长：威斯敏斯特民主中的政治谋略兴起》（Chief of Staff: The Rise of Political Craft in Westminster Democracies, Pickering, 2025）。数据集收录了1990年至2024年间，澳大利亚、英国、加拿大、新西兰四个同属威斯敏斯特民主体系的国家中，65名首相幕僚长（Chief of Staff）的生平资料、人口统计特征及背景政治信息。此外，本数据集还提供了上述四国所有"政治顾问"的年度名录。
