Soviet Economic Development: Some Basic Data, 1932-1940

<P>Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.</P><br>The project examined the mutual impact of Soviet state economic policy, development and structure in the years 1932-1940. In these years the economy developed rapidly after earlier investment and sacrifices. Growth was harmed by the Stalin terror-repressions of 1936-8, and by the need to increase military expenditure in view of the threat from Nazi Germany and Japan.<br>
