Metagenome sequences from Binan River

Urban rivers are sinks of wastewater from residential and commercial sources that carry different types of pollutants downstream, therefore making them vulnerable ecosystems. In the case of Laguna Lake, tributary rivers situated within Metro Manila, Laguna, and Cavite are of interest as these regions range from being intermediately urbanized to highly-urbanized. An assessment of Laguna Lake bacterial communities and ARG profiles is a much needed initiative. Phenotypic and genotypic information of bacterial communities in freshwater bodies can inform the understanding of processes such as bacterial diversification and acquisition of antimicrobial resistance. The general aim of this project is to profile the bacterial communities and ARGs in Laguna Lake.
