PREP geospatial processing and mobile coverage layers for electoral analysis in Mexico

This dataset contains the final geospatial and tabular outputs generated from a QGIS-based workflow for processing data from Mexico’s Programa de Resultados Electorales Preliminares (PREP) for the 2023–2024 federal electoral process. The repository includes validated mobile coverage layers, a georeferenced polling station layer, and a spreadsheet linking polling stations with mobile coverage information. The dataset was produced to support reproducible geospatial analysis of electoral information, mobile connectivity, and spatial coverage validation. The workflow included review and normalization of territorial identifiers, construction of unique polling station keys, geometry validation, spatial joins between polling station points and mobile coverage polygons, identification of unmatched records, and export of final layers for subsequent analysis. The data were derived from institutional sources, including PREP records, geospatial polling station information from the Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE), and mobile coverage information from the Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT). The uploaded files correspond to processed and validated outputs, not necessarily to the raw original datasets. Users should cite both this Zenodo record and the corresponding institutional sources when reusing the dataset.
