The overall objective of this action is to sustainably enhance the adoption, productivity and utilization of endophyte primed high pro-vitamin A plantain and derived food products in the context of ISFM in smallholder farms in Nigeria, Cameroon and Gabon. It is envisaged that locally adapted endophytes will enhance plantain resistance to target pests and pathogen and their efficacy will be improved by ISFM, resulting in higher yields of plantain with relatively high pro-vitamin A and other essential micronutrients, that will be converted into nutritious composite flour products ultimately leading to improved human nutrition, health and incomes. The high PVA plantain resulting food products will then be utilized by essential micronutrient and Vitamin A deficient groups, mainly children below 5 years and women of child-bearing age. With reference to each specific objective below we highlight the specific outputs and results.
