In this study, different plastic samples, including high- and low-density polyethylene and polypropylene, were collected from a deeply polluted urban estuary in Brazil for the isolation and characterization of bacterial strains potentially carrying key resistome and mobilome elements of importance under a One Health perspective. Furthermore, these plastic-derived strains were investigated as reservoirs of novel biocatalytic resources for fighting the plastic crisis.
