Litter degradation and associated fungal communities in oil palm plantations

A total of 30 litter bags with two different mesh sizes (2 mm and 0.037 mm) were deposited in an oil palm plantation in Jambi (Sumatra, Indonesia). After one, three and fife month five litter bags of each msh size were removed respectively. The studies aim was to invetsigate how the microbial colonization of decomposing litter in plantation ecosystems with and without the influence of plant roots and larger destruent fauna.
