De novo assembly of Melilotus officinalis

This study reports a high-quality de novo assembly for Melilotus officinalis obtained at the chromosomal level using PacBio third-generation Hi-Fi sequencing. The generated high-quality genome assembly of Melilotus officinalis provides a key basis for accelerating the research and molecular breeding of this important forage crop. The genome is also valuable for future studies on legume forage biology, evolution, and genome-wide mapping of quantitative trait loci associated with the relevant agronomic traits.

本研究利用PacBio第三代Hi-Fi测序技术，完成了染色体级别的高质量草木犀（Melilotus officinalis）基因组从头组装。本次构建的高质量草木犀基因组组装结果，可为加速这一重要饲用作物的相关研究与分子育种工作提供关键支撑。该基因组同时可为后续开展豆科饲草生物学、演化研究，以及针对相关农艺性状的数量性状位点全基因组定位研究提供重要参考价值。
