Medicago polymorpha is a nutritious, palatable and nitrogen-fixing forage and vegetable plant. Here we uncover the chromosomal scale genome sequence of M. polymorpha. The assembled M. polymorpha genome consists of 457.53 Mb with a long scaffold N50 of 57.72 Mb, and 92.92% (441.83 Mb) of the assembly was assigned to 7 chromosomes. Our genome data provides the genetic basis of M. polymorpha and further accelerates the functional genomic and breeding research in Medicago and other legume plants.
