资源简介:
The stratigraphy, structure, paleontology and sedimentology of the Lower Paleozoic Bowers Supergroup is fairly well known but some questions remain unanswered. The objective of the expedition was to map the regional extent of the Boweres Supergroup, determine the relationship between the Supergroup and the rock sequences flanking it (Wilson Group and Robertson Bay Group) and to collect data from which the environment of deposition and provenance of the sequence could be deduced. The Bowers Supergroup was examined from Frovlov Ridge in the north to the mouth of the Mariner Glacier. Some areas that were examined include Frovlov Ridge and the ridges immediately to the south, a ridge northwest of Mt Soza, key stratigraphic sections in the Carryer Glacier, Carnes Crag, Sledgers Glacier area, Reilley Ridge, Husky Pass, Edlin Neve, Mt Webb, Mt Sturm and ridges in the headwaters of the Sheehan Glacier, Leitch Massif and the Quartzite Ranges, Morozumi Range, Mt McCarthy, Lawrence Peaks and the head of Seafarer and Osuga Glaciers.
