As part of the AMIGA project, rhizosphere samples were collected from BT and near-iosgenic non-BT maize between 2012 and 2014 at four sites in the European Union between representing different biogeographical regions. DNA was extracted from the samples and subjected to high-throughput amplicon sequencing targeting the 16S rRNA gene, fungal ITS sequences, and the nirK gene.
