Our group employed a sequential passage approach to develop microbial consortia capable of degrading xylooligosaccharides of varying chain lengths. Five beechwood xylan-derived substrates (F0, F1, F2, F3, F4), each containing oligomers with degrees of polymerization of greater than 40, 20-40, 10-20, 5-10, and 2-4 were used. These substrates were cultured with human fecal microbiota. All cultures were sub-cultured at a ratio of 1:50 every 24 hours. In this project, we present the 16S amplicon sequencing data from the Day 1 to Day 4 cultures.
