Scytonematacean cyanobacteria have been identified as a rich source of bioactive secondary metabolites and novel natural products, yet the genome sequencing data in this group is still scarce. We have sequenced a strain of Brasilonema sp. to initiate a genome mining study and identify new compounds with antimicrobial and anti-tumour potential.
