Friendship and Violence in Finnish primary school textbooks

The dataset consists of Finnish primary school textbook (n=30) descriptions of friendship and bullying. The textbooks are designed for grades 4–6 in the subjects of Finnish language and literature, religion, social studies, and environmental studies. The textbooks were published by the three largest educational publishers in Finland: Edukustannus, Otava, and Sanoma Pro. The editions included span the years 2014–2024 and align with the Finnish national core curriculum. The dataset was produced in Finland at the University of Oulu as part of the Academy of Finland’s MEND research project on children’s friendship‑related violence (2024–2028). The dataset was compiled by systematically reviewing tables of contents, headings, and main texts to identify sections addressing friendship and bullying.
