There are so many such targets that even with strict filters to ensure targets are small planets several unconfirmed TESS candidates are transiting at any one time. CHATEAUX proposes to use time-critical P3 Cheops observations of a filtered and ranked set of TOIs which would be able to be scheduled between higher-priority time-critical Cheops observations. We expect these filler observations will produce useful scientific observations of TOI candidates including ephemeris improvements TTV detection improved radius precision and improved false positive probabilities (thanks to both ruling our chromaticity and centroid shifts). 摘要:
绝大多数TESS感兴趣天体(TESS Objects of Interest,以下简称TOIs)尚未得到确认,部分原因是缺乏后续观测支持。此类待确认目标数量极多,即便通过严格筛选以限定目标为小型行星,任意时刻仍有大量未确认的TESS候选天体处于凌星状态。
CHATEAUX项目计划利用优先级为P3的、经筛选与排序的TOIs样本的时间关键型CHEOPS观测,此类观测可在优先级更高的时间关键型CHEOPS观测间隙安排执行。我们预计这些填补式观测将为TOI候选天体带来极具科学价值的观测成果,包括星历表优化、凌星时间变化(Transit Timing Variations,TTV)探测、半径精度提升,以及假阳性概率优化——这得益于对色度偏移与质心偏移的双重排除。
