Active-Distributed Temperature Sensing data collected beneath a braided river for quantification of groundwater recharge

This dataset contains Active-Distributed Temperature Sensing (A-DTS) data collected from a 100 m long horizontal subsurface cable installed to approximately 5 m depth beneath the Waikirikiri-Selwyn River in New Zealand. The experiment was conducted over a 24-hour period and comprised twelve surveys each measuring the ambient temperature for 300 s, followed by 3600 s heating the cable with 15 W m-1 power applied and 3300 s measuring the temperature decrease. This dataset can be used to estimate groundwater recharge rates at a high spatiotemporal resolution.
