The associativism of workers from favelas in Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte (1954-1964)

Abstract The article considers the formation of the Union of Workers from Favelas (União dos Trabalhadores Favelados - UTF) in Rio de Janeiro and the Federation of Workers from Favelas of Belo Horizonte (Federação dos Trabalhadores Favelados de Belo Horizonte -FTFBH) in the context of the democratic experience (1945-1964). Furthermore, it analyzes the formation of supra-local resident associations and how the culture and political identity of favela workers has been constituted in Brazilian’s process of urbanization. Grounded in historical research on favelas, the study’s analysis makes comparisons between the associations in Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte.

摘要 本文考察了1945至1964年民主执政背景下，里约热内卢贫民窟（favela）工人联合会（União dos Trabalhadores Favelados - UTF）与贝洛奥里藏特贫民窟工人联合会（Federação dos Trabalhadores Favelados de Belo Horizonte - FTFBH）的成立历程。此外，本文分析了跨地域居民协会的形成机制，以及巴西城市化进程中贫民窟工人的文化与政治认同的建构路径。本研究基于贫民窟主题的历史研究，对里约热内卢与贝洛奥里藏特两地的相关居民协会展开了比较分析。
