Spatio-temporal study of riverine bacteria in the Meuse river watershed

This study presents a novel approach to analyzing the spatio-temporal patterns influencing the bacterial community composition (BCC) of a watershed. Indeed, our study is the first to combine a spatio-seasonal survey, spanning from headwaters to river mouth across various seasons, with a high-frequency study at a specific site. Additionally, we compare the core microbiome (CM), reflecting the stable portion of a microbial community, and the most abundant genera within the BCC. Notably, this is the first study to analyze the BCC of the Meuse river watershed, a significant Western European watershed.
