DESE - SALM - Smoothed Labour Force (SA2) Q4 2010 - Q2 2020

This datasets presents regional estimates of the labour force of Statistical Area Level 2 (SA2) regions for each quarter starting December 2010 up to June 2020. The boundaries used for the dataset follow the 2016 edition of the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS).\n\nSmall Area Labour Markets (SALM) presents regional estimates of unemployment and the unemployment rate at two small area levels:\n\n * Approximately 2,200 ABS SA2s, on a State/Territory and Metropolitan/Non-metropolitan basis. Estimates for the Capital City and the Rest of State are provided for the States and the Northern Territory.\n\n * For approximately 540 Australian LGAs.\n\nThe [SALM Estimates](https://lmip.gov.au/default.aspx?LMIP/Downloads/SmallAreaLabourMarketsSALM/Estimates") have been smoothed using a four-quarter average to minimise the variability inherent in small area estimates. A description of the methodology used to prepare the estimates in this publication is available on the [Explanatory Notes page](https://lmip.gov.au/default.aspx?LMIP/Downloads/SmallAreaLabourMarketsSALM/ExplanatoryNotes).\n\n Caution: Highly disaggregated estimates of unemployment and the unemployment rate at the SA2 and LGA level can display significant variability and should be viewed with caution, particularly in regions where the SA4 level unemployment data are showing considerable volatility. As a result, quarter-to-quarter comparisons may not indicate actual movements in the labour market so we recommend using year-on-year comparisons. Even then, large movements in the SA2 and LGA data should be viewed with caution.\n\nThe COVID-19 pandemic began to have a significant impact on the Australian labour market from March 2020, when Australia recorded its 100th COVID-19 case and the initial shutdown of non-essential services and trading restrictions took effect. 本数据集提供了2010年12月至2020年6月期间每一季度的二级统计区域（Statistical Area Level 2，SA2）劳动力区域估算数据。本数据集所采用的区域边界遵循2016版《澳大利亚统计地理标准》（Australian Statistical Geography Standard，ASGS）。

小区域劳动力市场（Small Area Labour Markets，SALM）数据集提供了两类小区域尺度下的失业人口及失业率区域估算数据：
* 约2200个澳大利亚统计局（Australian Bureau of Statistics，ABS）二级统计区域，按州/领地以及都会/非都会区域划分。针对各州及北领地，还分别提供了首府城市及州内其他区域的估算数据。
* 约540个澳大利亚地方政府区域（Local Government Areas，LGAs）。

注意事项：SA2及LGA尺度下的高度细分失业人口与失业率估算数据可能存在显著波动，使用时需谨慎，尤其是在四级统计区域（Statistical Area Level 4，SA4）失业数据呈现较大波动性的区域。因此，季度环比对比可能无法反映劳动力市场的实际变化，故建议采用年度同比对比。即便使用同比对比，对于SA2及LGA数据中的大幅波动仍需谨慎看待。
