Research Data for the Etiological Diagnosis of Intellectual Property Applied to Olive Oil Agribusiness in the Mantiqueira Foothills

This dataset supports the technical note “Etiological Diagnosis of Intellectual Property Applied to Olive Oil Agribusiness in the Mantiqueira Foothills”. It contains documentary records, coded data, search protocols and analytical matrices used to assess intellectual property protection in the regional olive oil value chain in Brazil. The dataset covers geographical indications, trademarks, plant varieties, patent families, computer programs and industrial designs, together with scientific literature, geographic-scope documentation, sectoral classification, SWOT analysis and recommendations. Data were collected from official and documentary sources, including the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), CultivarWeb/RNC/SNPC, and FAMPAT through Orbit Intelligence, complemented by institutional documents and scientific literature. No interviews, field sampling or experimentation were conducted. The potential geographic territory comprises 184 municipalities in Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The empirical scope comprises 22 municipalities, with 21 documentary links classified as confirmed and Luminárias/MG retained as indicative. The dataset preserves identified divergences between documentary sources rather than harmonising them silently. The consolidated intellectual-property inventory contains 92 records: 48 trademark records, 12 protected plant varieties, 26 pertinent patent families, one pertinent computer program and five industrial-design/model proceedings. Patent screening resulted in 114 distinct families after deduplication, of which 26 were classified as pertinent. The literature matrix contains 70 mapped references, with 18 in the proposed final selection. The files include data dictionaries, coding rules, quality-assurance controls and documented limitations to support transparency and reuse. Raw proprietary FAMPAT/Orbit Intelligence exports and third-party full-text documents are not redistributed.
