The 1: 50 000 geological map database of the Delehada map-sheet (K47E013003), Gansu Province was initiated with a thorough compilation of existing data, driven by specific needs and aimed at resolving critical geological issues through regional geological surveys. Survey routes were meticulously designed to emphasize vertical traverses across tectonic lines, supplemented by tracing routes, avoiding a uniform distribution of efforts or route density. The focus was on leveraging remote sensing imagery from diverse sources. Geological entities were defined using rock assemblages as mapping units, enabling a detailed depiction of geological bodies. This comprehensive work encompassed a total of 683 geological bodies, categorized into 19 sedimentary, 1 volcanic, 10 intrusive, and 20 metamorphic rock units. The database, which is approximately 73.2 MB in size, includes an in-depth study of previously identified Precambrian geological bodies. This involved the dissection of numerous intrusive bodies with minimal deformation and metamorphism, resulting in the discovery of Neoproterozoic gneissic granite and a substantial amount of early Paleozoic arc-related magmatic rocks. The precise portrayal of rock assemblages and the metamorphic deformation characteristics of metamorphic crustal rocks allowed for the constraining of their formation ages. A logical division of the spatiotemporal evolution sequence of magmatic rocks in the surveyed area was established. The geological map was compiled following the guidelines for tectonic and lithological entity mapping, achieving a harmonious balance between factual representation and interpretive comprehension. The establishment of this database offers significant field geological evidence, which is crucial for discussions on the characteristics of the Mingshui Block in the northern segment of the Beishan Orogenic Belt and for the delineation of tectonic units.
