The immune system is active in the tumor microenvironment (TME) of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and carries both effector and suppressive functions. We profiled biomarker expression on serial biological specimens collected during intraperitoneal (IP) chemotherapy to better define treatment-induced tumor involution. Serial biological samples were collected at several time points during IP chemotherapy from a cohort of 9 EOC patients. An additional cohort of 8 patients was used for validation. RNA from IP fluid cells and tumor tissue was analyzed via NanoString. Tumors were further analyzed by immunohistochemistry (IHC) for cytotoxic T cells (CTLs) and B cells.
