Aerobic Anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria (AAnPB) are an ecologically important group of microorganisms that are widespread in the photic zone of the ocean. However, the key environmental drivers of patterns in AAnPB abundance and diversity are still largely undefined, particularly in the southern hemisphere. We examined temporal patterns in AAnPB abundance and diversity in Australian coastal waters using Miseq Illumina sequencing.
