TA biosynthesis in Solanaceae

Tropane alkaloids are important chemotaxonomic markers in the Solanaceae.The representative tropane alkaloids, hyoscyamine and scopolamine, are clinicallywidely used muscarinic acetylcholine antagonist for acesodyne, anesthesia,antispasm, motion sickness, Parkinson's disease, etc., with great market demand. On the basis of gene expression pattern and phenotype of hairyroots overexpressing candidate genes, further in vivo knockdown, overexpression,and in vitro enzyme activity analysis of these candidate genes will characterizethe key enzymes, completing the biosynthesis pathway of tropane alkaloid andlaying basis for its synthetic biology research and sustainable use of plantresource.
