Finding Aid, Survey of 7256 Acres of Timber Harvest Area at Strom Thurmond Lake 1995-1996

This collection is referred to as "Survey of 7256 Acres of Timber Harvest Area at Strom Thurmond Lake 1995-1996.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is thirty-six (36) linear inches.
The documents in this collection date from February 1995 to June 1996. The collection was originally housed in acidic file folders in an acidic cardboard box. The materials were in relatively good condition; however, acidic tape, tears, dirt, creases, and metal contaminants were found. The acidic tape was removed with a heated tool, the tears were mended with acid-free tissue mending tape, the dirt was removed with a vulcanized rubber eraser, creases were smoothed with a bone tool, and metal contaminants, (including staples and paper clips) were removed.
The materials were not organized in a discernible order. The field records were organized by site number and/or provenience. The shovel test rosters were organized by the excavator’s last name, and at times various excavators were found on the same document. The fieldwork appears to have been conducted primarily from March-May 1995, and the analysis work appears to have been completed from May-July 1995. The final report dates to 1996, which explains the date range in the investigation name.
