Analysis of Critical Barriers to The Use of Websites in SMEs: Insights from SMEs Owners in Indonesia

The digitalization of technology encourages SMEs to widen the market. Nowadays, websites have become powerful tools for creating SMEs sustainability by engaging the customer. By using websites, SMEs are expected to increase their business credibility. The research problem is that many SME owners don't have websites because critical barriers that influence the intention of SMEs owners. This research aims to analyze the considerations of business owners before and after using websites to understand why SMEs still hesitate to use it. This research sample size uses a purposive sampling technique. It also uses quantitative methodology and data collection in the form of a Google Form survey, consisting of 218 valid data of 267 who are business owner respondents in JABODETABEK area in Indonesia. The data is processed using SmartPLS taken from March to June 2024. The research models used are TAM and TOE by analyzing seven variables: Security Concern, Perceived Usefulness, Organization Readiness, Complexity, Perceived Trust, Intention to Use, and Actual Usage.  There are seven hypothesis that are significant, namely Security Concern on Perceived Trust, Security Concern on Intention to Use, Perceived Usefulness on Intention to Use, Organization Readiness on Intention to Use, Complexity on Intention to Use, Perceived Trust on Actual Usage, and Intention to Use on Actual Usage. Further research is needed to evaluate this as an effective way to advance the technological digitalization of SMEs businesses in Indonesia.
