"Dasselbe. Die Aufschrift der Tafel ist von Lehrer Abraham (der Vordere)" ("The same. The inscription on the blackboard is by teacher Abraham (the one in front)"). A class of schoolchildren wearing cloths, European garments and long shirts sitting on wooden benches. A blackboard and a map of Europe. The two teachers dressed in European clothes. Inscription on the blackboard: 'Gonja Afrika' ('Gonja Africa'). A crucifix in the front. View from the back of the room towards the blackboard.; Cf. photos. nos. 150(A571), 571, 573, 574 and 575, album no. 5. -- Wilhelm Guth (1888-1980), from Zeiskam in the Rhineland Palatinate, studied commerce before joining the Leipzig Mission as a pastor. He served in Gonja (southern Pare) from 1913 to 1917 and from 1927 to 1938. He left a large number of photographs, mostly taken by himself but including some by members of his family or fellow missionaries.
