NRS-14642 | Records of the Conference: "Towards an Australian Family Policy"

This series of records relate to a major conference titled “Towards a National Family Policy” which was held at Macquarie University from 9 to 12 May 1980. This Conference was attended by nearly 200 delegates from every State and Territory. The delegates were drawn from a wide cross section of community representatives, academics, non-government organisation representatives and public servants.Dr. Alfred Kahn and Dr. Sheila Kamerman, co-Directors of Cross National Studies of Social Service Systems and Family Policy at the Colombia University School of Social Work, New York, delivered the keynote addresses. Dr. Donald Edgar, Director of the Australian Institute of Family Studies provided an Australian perspective. (1)The records from this conference include submissions and suggestions from organisations and individuals on issues to be discussed by the Conference. These records are arranged in an alphanumeric order by the name of the organisation making the submission. There are also registration papers for departmental delegates and lists of delegates from other states.Dr. Alfred Kahn's keynote address was recorded on a Ampex umatic video cassette is also amongst the papers.Endnote1.
