ASZ005 - As - Verbal subject-marking and pronominal paradigms; Conversational questionnaires (Dialogues A 'We're going fishing' and F 'Lifting stones')

This dataset contains elicited verbal subject-marking paradigms, pronominal paradigms, and dialogues elicited using the Conversational Questionnaire method (François 2019, 'A proposal for conversational questionnaires') from As with Hamid Mayor (born 1959), a native speaker of As. The paradigms were elicited for the verbs 'to catch', 'to run', and 'to kill'. The paradigm of pronouns used in object position were elicited. The dialogues were Dialogue A ('We're going fishing') and Dialogue F ('Lifting stones'). The session was recorded on 12 January 2020, in Asbaken village (Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). There is some background noise from the generator. This dataset relates to the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian' (PF19\100004); additional fieldwork funds were provided by a Moray Endowment Grant from the University of Edinburgh.
