The dataset was generated through the development and testing of a novel variable stiffness composite system (VSCS), which was created to address limitations in load capacity, response speed, and cycle work of traditional variable stiffness composites. The VSCS was prepared using a double-layer anisotropic structure, composed of a variable stiffness layer of polycaprolactone (PCL) and a driven layer of silicone elastomer with alcohol. The system demonstrated a continuous change in Young’s modulus from 0.1 to 7.263 MPa within 200 seconds and was capable of supporting a maximum weight 11.52 times its own weight. The dataset includes results from differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, stiffness and strength analysis, heating/cooling efficiencies, volume expansion analysis, and load analysis. The materials were prepared using molds of specific dimensions, and various tests were conducted using equipment such as MTS universal tensile testers, DMA analyzers, and contact thermometers.
