16S rRNA microbiome analysis of human pre-colostrum and infant oral metagenomes in mother-infant pairs. human pre-colostrum and human oral metagenomes

Precolostrum samples, collected prior to delivery, and infant oral samples, collected 5-7 days following birth, from 15 mother-infant pairs were analyzed through sequencing of the V3-V4 variable regions of the 16S rRNA . The project goal is to determine the extent of microbiome sharing between maternal precolostrum and the infant oral ecosystem as well as the existence of a milk microbiota prior to contact with the infant oral mouth.
