Title: Assessment of Drinking Water from Peer Mahal as a Reservoir of Salmonella Typhi: An Environmental SurveyAuthor: Shaharyar AliDescription:This project presents a comprehensive environmental survey of drinking water quality in the Peer Mahal region, with a specific focus on its potential role as a reservoir for Salmonella Typhi, the causative agent of typhoid fever. Water samples were collected from key locations, including Rajana Road, Chak No. 769 GB, and Chak No. 770, and analyzed for critical physicochemical parameters such as Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), and Color (Pt-Co).The findings reveal alarming deviations from acceptable standards, highlighting the presence of both organic and inorganic pollutants. Such conditions significantly compromise public health and increase the risk of waterborne diseases, particularly typhoid fever, which remains a major global health concern. The study emphasizes the urgent need for interventions to improve water safety in Peer Mahal. Recommendations include upgrading sanitation infrastructure, ensuring regular monitoring of water sources, implementing effective water treatment practices, and raising community awareness about hygiene. Additionally, vaccination campaigns targeting high-risk groups are essential to reduce the burden of typhoid fever in affected populations.By shedding light on the environmental and health implications of poor water quality, this research aims to support policymakers, health authorities, and local communities in taking evidence-based measures to safeguard public health and ensure access to safe drinking water.
