Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the contributions of research and documents produced on tourism, between 2017-2019, regarding the area under the influence of the Bioceanic Highway Corridor in the Campo Grande-Porto Murtinho stretch, Brazil, in the construction of sustainable tourist territories. This is a bibliographical and documentary research, associated with a survey of scientific works produced by four regional universities (UEMS, UCDB, UFMS and Anhanguera-Uniderp), Instituto Mamede de Pesquisa Ambiental e Ecoturismo and Instituto de Sustentabilidade Arara Azul, in addition to of documents of the Tourism Foundation of Mato Grosso do Sul (FUNDTUR). 44 scientific works were identified, originating from academic research, addressing tourism in the territory of immediate influence of the Bioceanic Highway Corridor, as well as publications and research carried out by research institutes in the area of ecotourism and scientific tourism and government initiatives for the strengthening of Instances of Regional Governments (IGRs). Even though the appreciation of the nature of the contents worked so far is relevant, there was a strategic need for articulated work in a network, from the local to the multinational scale. In addition to the integrative role that this activity can play in the construction of a Latin American territory, it is necessary to face the challenges of sustainable, more equitable and inclusive tourism, while respecting local, regional and national cultures.
