Replication Data for: Defending the Status Quo? How Reelection Shapes Criminal Collusion in Mexico
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains the replication materials for the article "Defending the Status Quo? How Reelection Shapes Criminal Collusion in Mexico", published in the British Journal of Political Science. The study examines how the introduction of mayoral reelection in Mexico increased violence against non-incumbent local candidates in high-crime areas and increased longer-term collusion with criminal organizations in these municipalities. The replication package includes the final cleaned datasets used in the analyses (.csv format), covering municipalities across Mexico from 2012 to 2023; code scripts (.R) that reproduce all tables and figures in the published article; documentation files, including a ReadMe describing data sources, variable definitions, and reproduction steps. Original raw data were obtained from national and local newspapers, INEGI, ENCIG, the ASF, Magar (2018), Data Cívica, México Evalúa y Animal Político (2024), and Esberg (2025), and processed to match the specifications described in the paper.
