Ten Years of Scientific Literature on Museum Metadata Standards: A Systematic Review (2014-2024) [list of articles for summarization]

This article aims to analyze the scientific production related to museum metadata standards, seeking to identify and map the main standards currently used by museums. The research adopts a quantitative-qualitative approach, conducted through a systematic literature review, following the four fundamental phases of the SALSA framework. Data from eight research sources were used: SciELO, Scopus, Web of Science, ProQuest (Library & Information Science Abstracts and Arts & Humanities Database), Brapci, EBSCO, LA Referencia, and Dialnet, covering the period from 2014 to 2024, as well as tools such as the reference management software Zotero. Initially, 1.050 documents were retrieved, and after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 62 documents made up the final sample analyzed. The results reveal the importance of metadata standards that ensure effective documentation and interoperability, highlighting the need for flexibility and adaptation to meet diverse cultural realities. It was also possible to observe critical gaps in standardization within the results, understanding that such evidence may marginalize identities and experiences, emphasizing the urgency for an inclusive system that reflects pluralism in cataloging practices in museums.
